Making Money Online vs. Offline: What’s Better?

Over the past several years, there has been an increase in individuals working from home. But is it as great as everyone makes out? Certainly, there are benefits, but can you make as much as a regular 9-5 job? In this article we’ll discuss the pros and cons of each, to help you make the right decision.
Online Pros:
One of the main reasons people choose to work online is that they can enjoy a much more flexible work-life balance. You can set your own hours, complete as little or as much work as you want, and control who you work for. It’s great for those with children at school or those that are currently traveling.

Another great advantage of making money online is that there are so many different ways you can do it. From data-entry tasks, transcription, writing, and photography, the options are endless. You can even make money back on shopping by using a reward program. Check out these apps similar to ibotta if you’re interested!
Online Cons:
Working online means that you have to be dependent on the internet. This can lead to an expensive bill and other computer costs. On top of that, if you don’t have a strong connection, you won’t be able to communicate with your clients.
When compared to regular work, you also might not be able to make as much money. Sometimes you may find it is difficult to find work, and there are always other competitors. If you do have work, you also have to be able to motivate yourself, which can be very difficult for some. It’s very tempting to want to sleep in and lay around all day, but if you do that, you won’t be able to make any money.
Offline Pros:

Working a regular job offline offers you the security that can’t be provided by freelancer work. Each day that you wake up, you are guaranteed work and pay, and can’t be fired for no reason. On top of that, you are rewarded with entitlements such as holiday pay, pregnancy, and sick leave.
You also have the ability to make more money, and grow your career within a particular company. You can get offered promotions, raises, and build up experience that can be useful in another job.
Offline Cons:
One of the main cons of working offline is that you get pulled into a busy office lifestyle. There is always work gossip and drama, and you have a boss that is continually watching you over the shoulder. On top of this, if you are late or don’t show up for work, there can be repercussions.
It also makes it difficult to enjoy a proper work-life balance, especially if you have to travel to and from work every day. You might find that you are more tired, reject social outings, and want to stay home on your days off. You also are restricted to a certain amount of holidays each year, and can’t just take off whenever you would like.
Final Thoughts:
When taking a look at both options, it’s clear to see that there are advantages and disadvantages to each. While working online provides you with more flexibility, you may not be able to make as much as a regular job. Ultimately, it depends on what you are after as an individual and what you enjoy. However, if you can’t decide, you could always try working online as a second job, to see if you like it first.

I worked offline for 10 years and got nowhere, I never made enough money for luxuries, to save for a house etc. I had that one source of income and that was it.
I started working from home 8 years ago and never looked back. I’m able to have several income sorces and can decide when and where I work. From home, a coffee shop or visiting family. I’m always on the go with several ways of making money.
Plus I save money on travel, car, food and even work clothes.

Hey Suprabhat,
Nice Article. I just want to say that there’s so much to online working than what you highlighted above. You presented the online working part as just a kind of simple mean of having a side gig or something like that, but I may be wrong.
Online business can be a real full-time income and much better than regular work when one dedicated one’s self into it.

In this pandemic when people are losing their jobs…I think online is one of the best ways to earn money without depending on anyone
I am reading your other content then I discovered it. Nice this one too and thanks…
Thanks for this share Suprabhat,
I struggled to earn online for a while so it can be tough in the early days. I found that using recurring income affiliate products was the key to generating a consistent income from working online. You’re right about connections too. It’s so much more difficult to connect with people online. Video is the best bet though and much better at building connections online than through the written word.
